What is Fab Lab?+
Fab Labs are local laboratories that form a global network, where creativity and invention are made possible thanks to digital fabrication tools.
What is digital fabrication?+
Digital fabrication is a process that uses design data (usually from CAD software) to control equipment (such as 3D printers or CNC machines) and create parts in various forms. That is, the design becomes instructions for the machine.
What types of workshops does iFurniture offer?+
We have software programs where you will learn to model your ideas and then carry them out in hardware, using tools such as CNC, laser, and router.
Who can use Fab Lab iFurniture?+
Fab Lab iFurniture is open to the entire community. Anyone, whether an individual or part of a program or project, can access our resources to develop their ideas and creations.
What types of wood are used in iFurniture?+
The most used wood in iFurniture is phenolic plywood, especially in one of our CNC router machines. However, we have two router machines, and one of them can cut harder woods, thus expanding the possibilities of work.
Is there an age limit to participate in iFurniture?+
There is no age limit to participate in iFurniture; we welcome everyone, from children to older adults. Children from the age of 6 can join our workshops, which are adapted for different ages, fostering curiosity, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship in all.
If I attend the workshops, can I take home the product I make?+
Of course you can take what you make. In our workshops you will find different courses where you will apply digital fabrication, learning from the use of software to hardware management. You can visit our website to see the courses and workshops we offer.
Can people outside the Melitón Carvajal School access?+
Of course, people outside the school can access. They just need to write to us and complete the visit form to schedule a guided visit.
